Chronic pain and other invisible conditions are the theme of De Warmste Week 2025 (December 18-24), a large annual solidarity campaign in Belgium, organized by the Belgian public broadcaster VRT.
SSome illnesses are not always visible, but they are very real. Diabetes, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, cardiovascular disease, Crohn’s disease, migraine, chronic kidney failure, HIV, tinnitus, autoimmune diseases, epilepsy, back or neck pain, endometriosis, asthma, chronic bowel inflammation, Parkinson’s, cancer, burnout, Ménière’s disease, dementia, long covid, anxiety disorders, …
Too many people don’t know what it means to live with this day in, day out. And that creates a double burden.
Not only the physical and mental symptoms, but also the lack of understanding and recognition weigh heavily. Always having to explain why you can’t join in, why you need rest, or why you’re in pain — it eats away at your well-being.
Sometimes staying silent seems like the easiest option. But that makes many people feel even more invisible.
That’s what De Warmste Week 2025 wants to change, making the invisible visible.
Therefore Pain in Motion launches the “Move the Pain Away”, an initiative aiming to raise awareness and funds for people suffering from chronic pain through physical activity. 🚶️🏃️🚴 ️💃
