Vision of the research line

The vision of the Pain in Motion Musculoskeletal research line is to transform the understanding and management of chronic musculoskeletal pain (e.g., low back pain, neck pain, hip & knee osteoarthritis, shoulder pain, headache) by pioneering research into the integrated role of psychoneuroimmunology, lifestyle & behavioral factors, and leveraging these insights to develop innovative, personalized therapies that improve quality of life for those affected.

Short description of the research line

The Pain in Motion Musculoskeletal research line investigates how psychoneuroimmunological mechanisms are influenced by lifestyle & behavioral factors in patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain. Focusing on underlying mechanisms, this research identifies modifiable (perpetuating) factors to inform, develop and examine innovative therapies. The aim is to develop, examine and implement integrative interventions to improve health care for patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain.
